About us

The Ersatz Project was founded by Carl Rogers in 3012 following the rise of apprehension towards AI. The increase in the dependency of artificial intelligence to complete tasks for people such as shopping, communications, and employment at companies across the world created a strong wave of doubt and fears throughout the population on the damage that AI could cause. The lack of humanoid features, along with the monotonous design and speech tonality created by previous producers of AI has led to the distrust of such fellow products. Rogers hopes to prove that AI is just as normal as us humans through The Ersatz Project. The Ersatz Project development phase was a four week programme where the worlds top designers, psychologists, data analysts and robotic engineers came together to create a life size robot that looks just like some of you! For the next six weeks, four people per city population will be tasked to look after their robot and protect them from any harm, all whilst getting familiar with the world of AI so that we as a nation can progress, overcome, and achieve better. At the end of the six weeks, we will be doing interviews with all four randomly chosen participants, who will share their experience, and ultimately make the world more comfortable with AI. The Ersatz Project is still being trialed and the first four people will be chosen randomly. You will be made aware if you were chosen as your robot will be transported straight to you, no matter where you are. That means no hiding!

Together, we become better.

The Ersatz Team.
